Production Begins in Los Angeles on Revolution Studios' Comedy 'The Benchwarmers'

Santa Monica, CA -- Filming has begun in Los Angeles on Revolution Studios' "The Benchwarmers," a comedy directed by Dennis Dugan and starring Rob Schneider, David Spade, Jon Heder, Jon Lovitz, Tim Meadows and Craig Kilborn, it was announced today by Revolution Studios Partner Todd Garner. The film will be released by Columbia Pictures in 2006.

"The Benchwarmers" is being produced for Revolution Studios by Happy Madison Productions' Adam Sandler and Jack Giarraputo ("The Longest Yard," "50 First Dates," "Anger Management," "Big Daddy") from an original idea by Sandler and a script by Allen Covert ("Nana's Boy," "Eight Crazy Nights") and Nick Swardson ("Nana's Boy," "Malibu's Most Wanted"). Barry Bernardi ("The Longest Yard," "Anger Management," "Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo") is serving as executive producer and Swardson is serving as co-producer.

"The Benchwarmers" tells the story of three guys who try to make up for their lack of athleticism when they were younger by forming a three-man baseball team to challenge a full squad of elementary school baseballers. They develop a large following of left-out kids as they head for a high-stakes, winner-take-all game with the best team of kids in the state.

Rob Schneider, who plays Gus, will next be seen in "Deuce Bigalow: European Gigolo." His other credits include "50 First Dates," "The Hot Chick," "The Animal," "Big Daddy" and "Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo." He also appeared on "Saturday Night Live" from 1990-1994.

David Spade, who plays Ritchie, appeared on "Saturday Night Live" from 1990 - 1996. His film credits include "Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star," "Joe Dirt," "Black Sheep" and "Tommy Boy." He also starred in the television series "Just Shoot Me" and is currently featured in "8 Simple Rules ... For Dating my Teenage Daughter."

Jon Heder, who plays Clark, was most recently seen in the hit comedy "Napoleon Dynamite." His upcoming projects include "Moving McAllistar," "Just Like Heaven" and "Monster House."

Jon Lovitz will next be seen in the film adaptation of the Broadway hit "The Producers." His other film credits include "The Stepford Wives," "Dickie Roberts: Former Child Star," "Small Time Crooks" and "A League of their Own." He also appeared on "Saturday Night Live" from 1985-1990 and on the television series "The Critic."

Tim Meadows was most recently seen in "The Cookout" and "Mean Girls." His other film credits include "The Ladies Man." He also appeared on "Saturday Night Live" from 1991 - 2000.

Craig Kilborn will next be seen in "The Shaggy Dog." His other film credits include "Old School." He is best known as the host of "The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn," "The Daily Show" and "SportsCenter."

Nick Swardson will next be seen in the comedy "Nana's Boy." His other film credits include "Malibu's Most Wanted" and "Almost Famous."

Dennis Dugan most recently directed the comedy "National Security." His other directing credits include "Big Daddy," "Happy Gilmore" and "Saving Silverman."

Revolution Studios was formed by Joe Roth in May 2000 to independently produce and finance films in partnership with Sony Pictures, Starz Entertainment Group and Fox Entertainment Group.
