Shoreline Entertainment and Perfect Circle Productions have partnered to launch Straightline Animation, a division dedicated to the acquisition and production of animated feature films and television. Headed by Dean English, Straightline Animation is designed to marry the market know-how of Shoreline Entertainment with the “producer/director friendly” atmosphere of the division’s team.

Morris Ruskin, CEO of Shoreline is currently producing the animated film “The Living Corpse.” He’s also executive producing the stop motion animated film “O’Apostolo” and he has several animated projects in development.

Ruskin said, “The Living Corpse” is the first animated film that I’ve produced, and I’ve loved every minute of the process. On top of this, the market is interested in the product, therefore it is a venture that I’m excited about and it makes business sense. We joined forces with Dean because of his vast experience in this world.”

Straightline Animation is the summation of perfect timing for Dean English - the right idea, at the right time, with the right partner. English said, “Combining our appetite for animation and Shoreline’s ability to effectively bring projects to the market should put some smiles on the faces of producers and directors”.

The company’s official launch is at the 2011 Annecy Animation Festival. To set the tone for the company, there is an open competition to design the logo for Straightline Animation with the winner getting a first-look deal on their next feature film with Straightline Animation.

Shoreline Entertainment is about to have its 20th anniversary and to date Ruskin has produced close to fifty films and Shoreline has handled close to 200 films, while Perfect Circle has seen its feature productions screen in
Annecy, Cannes, Berlin and Toronto.

Biography: Morris Ruskin, CEO
SHORELINE ENTERTAINMENT

Over the course of producing over forty-five films, Morris Ruskin has structured deals that incorporate deferments, soft money and international co-productions in order to create financially-viable motion pictures. These productions focus on bankable genre content and star-driven projects that can secure success in a sometimes-uneven marketplace. Amongst such productions are Glengarry Glen Ross, The Man from Elysian Fields, Lakeboat, Price of Glory, Marilyn Hotchkiss Ballroom Dancing & Charm School, The Visit, Everything's Gone Green, The Signal and Weirdsville.

Morris is no stranger to the festival circuit. Three of his films have premiered at Sundance; six have premiered at The Toronto International Film Festival; he's produced the opening night selection at Slamdance; and High Life was his first production to premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival last February. Morris' films have been frequently feted as well: The Visit was nominated for four Spirit Awards and The Signal was nominated for The Cassavetes Spirit Award.

Morris is presently in production on a stereoscopic, RealD 3D-animated film based on a comic book and is in postproduction on Master Harold and the Boys, which is based on Athol Fugard's famous play and stars Ving Rhames and Freddie Highmore.

By persistently working with prominent writers and directors and by developing and acquiring projects that are attractive to the major studios, mini-majors, and foreign markets alike, Morris has ensured for over eighteen years that Shoreline remains a stable yet versatile and ever-evolving organization.
