STARZ! Gets Its Motor Runnin' & Heads for the Highway Acquiring 'The Motorcycle Diaries'
Englewood, CO -- STARZ! straddles the Harley, landing the exclusive pay-TV rights to the Academy Award(R)-winning film 'The Motorcycle Diaries.' The acclaimed film, starring the sizzling Gael Garcia Bernal, won this year's Oscar(R) for Best Song ("Al Otro Lado Del Rio"), and was nominated for Best Screenplay (Jose Rivera). The film is scheduled to premiere on STARZ! in August 2005.
'The Motorcycle Diaries' is based on the journals of Ernesto "Che" Guevara (Bernal), future leader of the Cuban Revolution, who recounts the adventures he and best friend Alberto Granado (Rodrigo De La Serna) had while crossing South America by motorcycle in the early 1950s. The film is directed by Walter Salles (Central Station).
