Panelists will also include student representatives from FCCLA and SADD as well as one of the teens featured in the documentary.

WHERE: National Cable & Telecommunications Association
1724 Massachusetts, Ave., NW
Washington, DC

WHEN: Wednesday, May 12, 2004

DETAILS: According to NHTSA's most recent statistics, nearly one-fourth of the young drivers 15 through 20 years old who were killed in crashes were intoxicated. Offering a sobering look at teen-age drinking and driving and how it affects the lives of everyone involved, SMASHED: TOXIC TALES OF TEENS AND ALCOHOL goes inside Maryland's Shock Trauma Hospital, where six young adults survived to tell their stories of broken bodies, shattered dreams and lives forever changed. Part of "The Parent Handbook" series of documentary specials, the exclusive HBO Family presentation debuts Friday, May 14 (10:00-11:00 p.m. ET), and is produced and directed by Karen Goodman and Kirk Simon (Emmy(R) winners of HBO's "Chimps: So Like Us").
