International Search for Next Generation of Latino Screenwriters Narrows

New York, NY -- VOY Pictures, a company developing high- quality films and television programming for Latinos and Latinophiles, today announced the five finalists of its VOY Pictures Film Lab (http://www.voyfilmlab.com) whose mission is to discover and foster exceptional Latino talent across a variety of film disciplines. The finalists are: Ana Farini, Argentina; Veronica Insausti Castro, Peru; Nicolas Perdomenico, Argentina; Susana Ortiz Obregon, Colombia; and Lymari Santiago Aponte, Puerto Rico.

The first annual competition, which kicked off in July 2005, will provide undiscovered screenwriters with guidance and professional opportunities. Of the five finalists, one winning screenplay will be awarded $5,000 and optioned by VOY Pictures.

Lourdes Diaz, President, VOY Pictures Films said, "We were overwhelmed by the number of quality screenplays that we received from all over the globe. The Latin world is rich with undiscovered talent and the five finalists selected are excellent examples of the great opportunity that the VOY Film Lab has given us to discover new voices. To choose the grand prize winner from such first-rate entries will be a significant challenge."

VOY Pictures will fly the five finalists to Los Angeles from March 1-5 for a five day special VOY Film Lab program. During that time, each finalist will have one-on-one meetings with leading industry professionals to discuss their script and work towards further development of their project. At the end of the Lab, each finalist will have a period of six weeks to rework their script and resubmit the revised draft. VOY Pictures will then choose the grand prize winner which will be announced on July 1, 2006. The winner will receive a cash award of $5000 as an option for the screenplay.

Screenwriters were asked to submit an original synopsis of a full-length feature film script and their resume along with a completed VOY Pictures Film Lab application. The first annual VOY Film Lab generated hundreds of applications from four continents.

VOY Pictures is the film and television division of VOY, LLC, a media company focused on the Latin market and on those consumers discovering Latin culture. Through a suite of VOY-branded products and services, including television and radio programming, films, music and the Internet, the company endeavors to help its consumers achieve their aspirations. VOY donates ten percent of its profit to the VOY Foundation, Inc., a non-profit organization that awards college scholarships to Latino youth. VOY has offices in New York, Los Angeles and Buenos Aires.
