Red Carpet Screening Event November 9, 2004

DALLAS, TX -- Film star, Emmy Award nominee and three- time Golden Globe Award nominee Janine Turner today announced her directorial debut with the premiere of her first short film "Trip in a Summer Dress." The short film will make its debut at the Angelika Theater, located at 5321 E. Mockingbird Lane in Dallas, TX on Tuesday, November 9, 2004 at 7:00 pm.

Janine fell in love with Texan Annette Sanford's short story, "Trip in a Summer Dress". Captivated by the complicated subject of mother vs. daughter and society vs. the soul, Janine felt compelled to bring this story to life. Turner is perhaps best known for her role in the Emmy Award winning CBS series, Northern Exposure, as well as her starring work in films like Cliffhanger with Sylvester Stallone and Robert Altman's Dr. T and the Women.

As executive producer as well as producer, Janine put the entire project together for under $20,000.00. She was hands-on with every aspect of the movie. In addition to directing, she wrote the screenplay, co-edited the movie and co-stars as "Mama." She also sings the Switchfoot song, This is Your Life, in the film.

The cast of the 26 minute short film includes Turner as "Mama", Turner's daughter Juliette Gauntt as the "little girl on the bus", Kathleen Early, a New York stage actress, as Sara Jean, and Dylan Beiersdorf, who makes his screen debut in "Trip", plays Mathew.

Janine's exciting journey into film-making is just beginning with "Trip in a Summer Dress". With her very first festival entry, she won the coveted "Best New Emerging Director - Short Film" award at the Deep Ellum Film Festival in Dallas, TX, October 21, 2004. DVD available upon request.
