Biography:

Lance Bradley was born in Louisville, KY on November 27th 1985. He attended Jefferson Community College and he has always been interested in filmmaking/screenwriting but first started studying the arts about two years ago. He has written quite a few screenplays but Dark Sky is the first entered in a competition. He has made a number of short films and worked on a few film sets. He is going to complete a marketing degree at the university of Louisville and hopefully return to school for a screenwriting degree as well. He enjoys the art of screenwriting and hope to make it a career.

I knew I wanted to be a screenwriter........

After watching the film Arm of Darkness.
 


I know I've succeeded........ 

When I've sold a screenplay or my film is on the big screen.

 

My inspiration to write DARK SKY PART 1 FINDING FAITH.......

my professor challenged me to write something different from the rest of my material.

FilmMakers Magazine: What inspired you to write?

Lance Bradley: I've always loved to tell stories and I felt the screen was the best place for that.

FilmMakers Magazine: What did you do to prepare yourself to write your first script?

Lance Bradley: I read a couple of screenwriting books and attended classes and seminars.

FilmMakers Magazine: Is this your first script and how long did it take you to complete?

Lance Bradley: This is not my first screenplay and it took me about two years to complete.

FilmMakers Magazine: Do you have a set routine, place and time management for writing?

Lance Bradley:
Yes, I sit down at ten a.m. and try to write for at least five hours a day.

FilmMakers Magazine: Do you believe screenplay contests are important for aspiring screenwriters and why?

Lance Bradley: Yes, I think it is a great way to get recognized and winning provides confidence.

FilmMakers Magazine: What influenced you to enter the FilmMakers International Screenwriting Awards?

Lance Bradley: A yahoo search.

FilmMakers Magazine: What script would you urge aspiring writers to read and why?

Lance Bradley: Clerks, because Kevin Smith has a talent for writing dialogue and it's hard to write like you talk.

FilmMakers Magazine: Beside screenwriting what are you passionate about and why?

Lance Bradley: Basketball, I grew up in Kentucky. Basketball is a part of almost everyones life here and I grew up my whole life playing.

FilmMakers Magazine: Who is your favorite Screenwriter and Why?

Lance Bradley: Paul W.S. Anderson, because I am a big fan of the Resident Evil series.

FilmMakers Magazine: Name the director you would love to work with and why?

Lance Bradley: Sam Raimi, I'm just a big fan of all his work. I love his third installment of the Evil Dead series, Army of Darkness. I think he is a precise director and on the money with all of his shots. He has a easy going style, you always see him smiling on set, and he always finds a way to get what he wants from his actors.

FilmMakers Magazine: Name the actor you would love to work with and why?

Lance Bradley: I would love to work with Edward Norton. I think he is a very special actor and always delivers a great performance. From American History X to the Illusionist, he's great.

FilmMakers Magazine: Any tips and things learned along the way to pass on to others?

Lance Bradley: Keep writing, never stop. The more you write the better you get.

FilmMakers Magazine: What's next for you?

Lance Bradley: I'll enter the 2008 competition and continue to write.

FilmMakers Magazine: Where will you be five years from now?

Lance Bradley: I'll be writing another script and working on a film.
