Englewood, CO – WAM! announced that the deadline for submission to its “WAM! Teen Video Contest: Superheroes” is extended through May 13, 2005. All you need is a camera, a creative idea and in the end, a short movie about an original superhero(s) to enter the contest.

Your superhero doesn’t have to wear a cape or swing from skyscrapers to make you eligible – your imagination is the only limit in the “WAM! Teen Video Contest: Superheroes.” Students between the ages of 13 and 18 can enter the contest by submitting a film or video representing their completely original and unique idea of a superhero – real or imagined. Submissions can feature animation, live action, clay animation, stop-motion or a combination of technologies. Productions should be no longer than seven minutes and need to be sent in before the end of the contest period.

“Link is WAM!’s idea of a superhero – he talks to computers, makes movies and is a superteen – the ‘WAM! Teen Video Contest: Superheroes’ gives a new generation of filmmakers a chance to create their own superhero,” said Midge Pierce, vice president of WAM! programming. “This is a great opportunity for teens to highlight their talents and be recognized for their innovation and imagination.”

Eligible entrants will have a chance to win:

One (1) grand-prize: a Panasonic mini DV camcorder (model AG-DVX100A), unidirectional microphone, wide angel lens, carrying case, two-section tripod and A/C adapter/charger.
or two (2) first prizes: a Panasonic D-Snap video camera.
or twelve (12) finalists prizes: a WAM! hat or t-shirt.

Submissions should be sent to WAM! Teen Video Contest: Superheroes, P.O. Box 6918, Stacy, Minn. 55078-6918 and must be postmarked by May 13, 2005. An entry form, production participation release form, appearance release form and parental permission release form must be sent in with the submission. These documents and a complete set of rules are available for download at www.wamtv.com .

Judging criteria includes originality, character and plot development, artistic expression and quality of the entry. New York Film Festival Director Tara Dawn and Starz Denver International Film Festival Director Ron Henderson have agreed to serve as advisors. Winners will be announced during the “Comic Book Heroes” programming stunt in July.

The “WAM! Teen Video Contest: Superheroes” is sponsored by Starz Entertainment Group LLC.
