Austin, Texas -- The 2006 edition of the South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Conference and Festival has announced its annual call for entries. Submissions in all categories are now being accepted by the festival and applicants can submit via the festival website (www.sxsw.com/film). The early deadline for submissions is November 14, 2005 and the late deadline is December 5, 2005. The 2006 festival will be held March 10-18, 2006 in Austin, TX.

"We're very excited for the 2006 festival, and we can't wait to begin reviewing submissions and planning the schedule of another terrific SXSW," says Matt Dentler, the Festival Producer for SXSW. The 2005 SXSW Film Festival drew record numbers of attendees from all over the world.

To submit a film for consideration, please access the website and fill out the appropriate film submission application, then enclose in one package a print out of your online application and a Region 1 compatible DVD or NTSC VHS videocassette. Mail the packet to

SXSW Film
1000 E. 40th Street
Austin, TX 78751

If not applying online, print out the .pdf version of the
film entry form, complete it by hand and include a synopsis of 50 words or less, director's bio, cast and crew list, and a list of previous and planned screenings. Send it to the above address along with the processing fee and your DVD or VHS screener. The early submission deadline is November 14, 2005 (postmark date) with a processing fee of $25 for shorts and $35 for features. The late submission deadline is December 5, 2005 with a
processing fee of $30 for shorts and $40 for features. (There is a $5 discount for applying online.) The processing fee is nonrefundable. Videotapes, DVDs, and any application materials will not be returned. Please
do not send stills unless requested to do so. Only works completed in 2004 or works that will be completed in early 2005 are eligible for consideration. Works in progress will be considered for the Festival provided they will be completed no later than February 2005. Shorts must be
less than 40 minutes in length. Works shot in any format will be accepted for screening. If your film is selected, we will work with you to ensure the best screening format.

Films and videos submitted to the Festival will be considered for both Competitive and non-competitive categories (determined by Festival Committee). Prizes will be awarded in the following categories: Narrative Feature, Narrative Short, Documentary Feature, Documentary Short, Animated Short, Experimental Short and Music Video. Non-competitive categories include Narrative Special Screenings and Documentary Special Screenings.
