Piracy Arrests Prove Need to Block Illegal Filming; Chilmark Security Poised to Deliver with Piracy Blocker

MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- Los Angeles Police Department officials have pledged to investigate any and all forms of piracy, including the anti-camcorder law that went into affect on Jan. 1, 2004. The April 14 announcement of the department's first arrest prompted Chilmark Entertainment Group CEO Steve Strauss to declare that the time is right for the entertainment industry to employ Chilmark Security LLC's Piracy Blocker.

The Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) estimates that the U.S. motion picture industry loses in excess of $3 billion in potential revenue each year due to piracy. Although the arrest gives a clear signal to movie pirates that such action will not be tolerated, prevention currently relies on the work of theater employees to provide surveillance.

"If piracy is to be prevented, the motion picture industry must employ technology such as the Piracy Blocker to truly be effective," Strauss says.

The Chilmark Security LLC Piracy Blocker not only disarms digital piracy, but also has the unique ability to detect its presence. The device impedes the functioning of digital and analog cameras within an effective range of 300 feet and a diluted range of 500 feet. The Piracy Blocker is uniquely capable of stopping digital piracy without violating film stock or the theatergoers' experience.

Chilmark Security, LLC has applied for and received Patent Application Number 10-800379. In addition, the company is in discussions with two motion picture studios to employ the blocking devices to protect pre-released movies from "camcording." Pirates use small hand-held video cameras or pinhole cameras to record motion picture films off theater screens and then copy the films for illegal distribution.

"We believe there is no better product than Chilmark Security's Piracy Blocker to defend the studios' intellectual property," Strauss said. "The illegal pirating can and will be blocked."
