The Ohio Independent Screenplay Awards features three different awards:

  • Best Screenplay Award
  • Best Northcoast Screenplay Award (majority of the screenplay set in Northern Ohio), created to encourage filmmaking in Ohio.
  • Best Voice of Color Screenplay Award (story that reflects people of color and/or written by a writer who is a person of color)
  • AWARDS FOR EACH WINNING SCREENPLAY\Submission to feature film producers in Hollywood and New York City
  • Representation, display, and promotion by WritersScriptNetwork.com
  • National exposure of award via press releases
  • Various other awards to be determined, e.g. magazines, software, etc.
The mission of the OIFF is to be the leading organization in Ohio dedicated to freedom of expression through the art of independent media, encouraging emerging media artist, and providing a consistent, reputable venue for work the public may not otherwise see. The OIFF accomplishes our mission by facilitating grass roots networking for independent media makers, by acting as the accessible step between local filmmakers and the larger world of independent film, and through educational programs and workshops. We value integrity, innovation, and the exchange of knowledge.

Eligibility: Open to anyone
Rules:

Screenplay submissions must be:

  • Complete (no works-in-progress)
  • Original work
  • Non-produced
  • Non-optioned
  • Feature length (generally 80-120 pages)
  • No constraints on genre, content, year completed, country of origin, or subject matter
  • Also, no residency constraints exist for submitting authors (i.e., the author does not have to be an Ohio resident)
  • Script summaries, plays, short stories, and short film screenplays will not be considered.
