Cagesafe Productions is holding a short screenplay competition for
several reasons. Primarily it is to give talented screenwriters
the opportunity to see their screenplays transformed into a film.
Writing is a form of art. Filmmaking, while equally a form of art,
is a communal endeavor. Although a screenwriter is hopefully
creating a piece of art that is self sustaining and all inclusive,
the screenwriter is simultaneously drafting a map... directions...
that other artists can sympathize with and translate to a complete
piece.
The first step to learning to write is through long hours of
reading, deconstructing literature, and writing. Writing, however,
is also a form of communication. There is no better way to judge
your ability to communicate your thoughts than to see them
reflected back to you in the form of a film. This is the primary
goal of Cagesafe Productions' Short Screenplay Competition, to
offer a talented beginning author the opportunity to critique
their own ability to communicate through seeing their words
translated to pictures. |
