BRITISH SHORT SCREENPLAY COMPETITION

The British Short Screenplay Competition is proud to announce that the Academy award winning producers Stephen Woolley and Nik Powell will be among the judges adjudicating this year's finalists.

"In the current climate of European cinema, specifically British and Irish production, there is a tendency to creat movies that adhere to tried and tested successful formulas. As a judge for the British Short Screenplay Competition I will be looking for original and different material that I hope will inspire filmmakers to break more boundaries and progress the art of movie- making. I welcome the opportunity to support this competition." Stephen Woolley

The deadline for this year's entries is January 10, 2003.

Last year the British Short Screenplay Competition received submissions from around the world and the finalists were judged by an unprecedented panel of judges which included Academy Award winning producers; Nik Powell, Leslee Udwin, Stephen Woolley and actor Charles Dance.

The competition is sponsored by giants of the industry Fuji Films, Lee Lighting, Lynx Digital, Panavision, Pinewood Film Studios, Screenplay Systems and Soho Images.

The winning screenplay will be produced, premiered at BAFTA the British Academy, released in selected UK cinemas and entered into international film festivals.

The first runner up will receive Movie Magic's full writer's suite which includes Screenwriter 2000, Dramatica Pro and StoryView. Four further runners up will each receive Movie Magic's Screenwriter 2000.
