Filmmakers who have always dreamed of a chance in the spotlight are now getting their shot.

The Doorpost Film Project is offering an opportunity for aspiring filmmakers to showcase their talents to prominent industry producers, artists and peers around the world. The organization is providing more than $300,000 in payments and awards to support these films.

Entrants can make a film in any format and genre that is no more than five minutes in length. Films must be based on one of seven concepts: love, greed, redemption, pain, forgiveness, freedom or energy. Those interested in participating should register online at www.thedoorpost.com. Registration closes Apr. 1.

Filmmakers may upload their submitted films to The Doorpost Film Project’s Web site from Feb. 1 to May 1. A panel of industry experts, along with online viewers, will select 15 finalists.

The 15 finalists will be announced June 2 and given $10,000 to create a second film that must be eight to 10 minutes in length. Following a second period of voting, the winners will be announced at a film symposium and awards presentation on Sept. 13 in Nashville, Tenn.

The third place winner will receive $20,000, the second place winner will receive $30,000 and the first place winner will be awarded $100,000 and a trip to Los Angeles to meet with development studios.

The Doorpost Film Project is a not-for-profit organization created to find, honor and equip emerging filmmakers whose works depict the core of life, its struggles and its purpose.
