6 Festivals in 2 months: Heather Robertson brings “Casting Adrift” home to NY April 28th
New York, NY --- After covering film festivals on both coasts in two months, native New Yorker first-time filmmaker Heather Robertson is ‘coming home’ hitting the New York International Independent Film & Video Festival (NYIIFVF) with a screening of “Casting Adrift” on Wednesday, April 28th, 2004 at Village East Cinemas (12th Street & 2nd Avenue in NYC), Screen 7 at 8:00 p.m. Robertson’s Comedy/Mockumentary signature film is about Pop-Star Carlin Wilder, her favorite (unemployed) soap opera actors and her feature film directorial debut, which ironically takes place in NY.
“It's great to have a NY screening, not only because it's a great chance to see my NY based actors and crew, but because I feel strongly that this film has a certain kind on NY humor.....quick and sharp, so hopefully people will want to see it again to catch anything they might have missed the first time" explains Robertson.
Previously, “Casting Adrift” screened at the NYIIFVF in Los Angeles, Westchester Film Festival in White Plains, Valley Int’l Film Festival in North Hollywood, CA and in Florida at Palm Beach Int’l Film Festival and Tambay Film; Video Festival on April 24th. Robertson will hit more festivals the rest of this year while working on other projects leading to her ultimate dream.
"My dream is to have a career similar to Christopher Guest's, who I think is brilliant by the way. Have the green light to make movies for a very moderate budget with a wonderful group of actors who have great comedic energy together, and the freedom to create on the spot. Some of the funniest moments come out of improve," adds Robertson.
Robertson is a graduate of St. Paul’s School and Georgetown University, where she received a B.A. in English Literature. She worked in television production’s “talk” genre through 1996 then enrolled in the New School’s MFA program in Creative Writing, making her way to New York Film Academy’s Intensive Digital Filmmaking Course. Robertson collaborated with Dublin-native, John McKone in writing “Casting Adrift” which launched into production in East Hampton, NY in February 2003, wrapping in just 5 weeks. Robertson is the daughter of actors Cliff Robertson and Dina Merrill.
