Los Angeles, CA -– Canadian writer/director Kelsey Howard is set to begin his most intense project to date, a gritty action/drama called “Cracked.” Howard is not afraid to take on a dark story line, exposing the Russian sex-slave trade and the Hollywood underbelly while revealing an unexpected story of love, sacrifice and facing one’s own personal demons. Well-known as a First AD and associate producer on a variety of television and film projects including DaVinci’s Inquest, Disney’s Air Bud, and Replicant with Jean-Claude Van Damme, Howard brings almost 20 years of experience in film and has worked under top producers including the Academy Award-nominated William “Bill” Vince (Capote, Shattered) and alongside top cinematographer Tobias Scheissler (Dreamgirls, Friday Night Lights). Howard made his directing debut with a small indie film called “Scorched” in 2003 starring Gary Busey and Andy Dick. Next he directed Edward Furlong and Jamie Pressley in the thriller “Cruel World” in 2005 which was distinguished as an official selection of the 2005 New York Horror Film Festival and the 2005 Screamfest Horror Film Festival. With “Cracked,” Howard has found his next project that is sure to make a mark on the festival circuit and beyond.

The screenplay was co-written by Kelsey Howard and Tom Archdeacon, and renowned acting coach and development executive Ivanna Chubbuck also contributed to the script development to bring out opportunities for poignant actor performances. “Cracked” centers around a rising young actor on the verge of stardom who sacrifices his own success to rescue a girl he hardly knows from a dangerous encounter, only to find himself in a more dangerous predicament. Grammy Award winning music engineer/record producer Neal Pogue (Outkast, Travis Barker, Nelly Furtado) will co-produce as well as serve as music supervisor to bring together a unique soundtrack of renowned artists. The film will be co-produced by Howard and Pogue of Howard-Pogue Productions as well as Jamal Johnson and Jennifer Horton, executives of quickly rising Los Angeles based management/production company 11-16 Entertainment. Currently putting together a stellar cast of actors, the team has set “Cracked” is set to begin principal photography in early September 2008 for a 2009 release.
