The First Video-On-Demand Film Festival
- A Call for Entries -

Palm Pictures VOD (Video On Demand) announced today the premiere of the PALM PICTURES VOD FILM FESTIVAL, the nation's first Video-On-Demand Film Festival, debuting on January 17, 2006.

The PALM PICTURES VOD FILM FESTIVAL is a competitive showcase of four feature-length films on the Palm Pictures VOD Channel during each of three slated festivals throughout the year. VOD Viewers are encouraged to watch all of the selections and register a vote for their favorite film through Palm’s VOD companion website http://www.palmvod.com . In addition to generating awareness and exposure for selected independent films through Palm’s VOD Festival, the winning film of each competition, as determined by the viewers, may receive US Theatrical & DVD Distribution through Chris Blackwell's Palm Pictures company.

The PALM PICTURES VOD FILM FESTIVAL is a rare opportunity for filmmakers to present their films to a national audience and have immediate viewer feedback which will help decide which film merits U.S. distribution. Submissions are being accepted now through February 28, 2006. Both fiction and non-fiction works are welcome. Specific submission guidelines and instructions are available for download at http://www.palmvod.com.

Chris Blackwell, Founder and Chairman of Palm Pictures said “Palm Pictures has always been at the forefront of technology and we are proud to be a pioneer in presenting the works of emerging filmmakers who utilize both traditional and digital platforms to a broad audience through this new and exciting initiative on VOD.”

Palm Pictures VOD premiered on Comcast's Digital Platform in June 2005, and now reaches 9.5 million households in 35 states. Curated by Palm Pictures, Palm VOD features the best of independent feature films, shorts as well as a variety of extras cultivated from the company’s library of music, foreign, independent and original programming. A free service for Comcast Digital subscribers, Palm VOD has consistently placed in the top tier of Comcast's robust VOD offerings since its launch. Comcast’s digital platform generated in excess of 1 billion VOD orders in 2005.
