Toronto - New this year, the Toronto International Film Festival will present a free screening of the Cadillac People's Choice Award winning film on the closing night of TIFF08, September 13. The screening will take place at 9 p.m. in the Visa Screening Room at the Elgin Theatre. "This is a gift back to the city of Toronto," said Festival Co-Director, Cameron Bailey. "It's a big thank you to our audiences for their ongoing support and commitment to our Festival, which has made it one of the best in the world."

Voted on by Festival audiences, the Cadillac People's Choice Award winner will be announced on the afternoon of September 13. Last year's Cadillac People's Choice Award winner was Eastern Promises (David Cronenberg, TIFF 2007). Previous People's Choice Award winners include Bella (Alejandro Gomez Monteverde, TIFF 2006), Tsotsi (Gavin Hood, TIFF 2005) and Hotel Rwanda (Terry George, TIFF 2004). The 33rd Toronto International Film Festival runs September 4 through 13, 2008.

Tickets for the Cadillac People's Choice Award winner will be available on a first-come, first-served basis beginning at 7 p.m. on September 13 at the Visa Screening Room at the Elgin Theatre. For more information on this screening, visit tiff08.ca

The Cadillac People's Choice Award is made possible through the generous sponsorship of Cadillac.
