EIUC SUMMER SCHOOL ON CINEMA AND HUMAN RIGHTS

VENICE (ITALY), 21 AUGUST – 10 SEPTEMBER 2008


The School
The European Inter-University Centre for Human Rights and Democratization, based in Venice, Italy, is pleased to launch the third edition of the EIUC Summer School on Cinema and Human Rights.

Organization
The Summer School is organized by EIUC with the collaboration of the Venice Film Festival. The Programme Director of the School is photographer and documentary filmmaker Nick Danziger.

Objective
The objective of the School is to explore the use of cinema as an instrument for enhancing human rights awareness.

Participants
The School seeks to involve 25 participants among human rights practitioners, film makers and producers, and human rights and film students.

Program
Activities will include lectures, discussions, workshops, screenings of films at the 2008 Venice Film Festival, and the development of individual projects.

Cost
Participants will be asked to pay an admission fee, reflective of real cost, of 1600 Euro which covers the school, reading materials, and access to the Venice Film Festival. Participants are responsible for all other costs, including transports, accommodation and subsistence.
