State-of-the-Art Film Studio Slated for Finish in Fall 2005

Salt Lake City, UT – Stone Five Studios, owner of HaleStorm Entertainment, has released its decision to build a state-of-the-art film studio in Utah to meet the demand for both HaleStorm’s movies and other local filmmakers, as well as to encourage filmmakers outside of Utah to film, produce and edit their movies in Utah.

The new studio will feature two fully equipped soundstages for film and television production, a state-of-the-art recording studio, featuring a Foley stage, band accommodations, and a state-of-the-art mixing console. The new building will also house several video editing suites including fiber-optic networked editing systems, a high-end compositing station, and full HD editing capabilities.

“The studio will have all the accommodations available to serve as a base camp for any major production, says Dave Hunter, CEO of Stone Five Studios and President of HaleStorm Entertainment. “We’re excited about building a studio that will not only provide local filmmakers with the necessary resources for film and video production but will also help entice out-of-state filmmakers to shoot their movies here,” says Hunter.

According to the Utah Film Commission over 600 films and TV movies have been filmed in Utah since the 1920’s, due to its diversity of rugged Northern mountain tops, red rock vistas, modern cities, suburban neighborhoods, lovely rural communities, and of course, its unique shimmering salt flats. Leigh von der Esch, Director of the Office of Tourism, adds that Utah also provides quick commutes from the West Coast with the finest crew base between New York and LA.

“We’ve received tremendous support from Governor Jon M. Huntsman Jr’s administration, along with the legislature in passing the $1 Million dollar incentive fund for Utah’s film industry,” says von der Esch. “With Stone Five’s state-of-the-art film studio and the recent addition of the incentive fund for filmmakers, the state will have greater success enticing more filmmakers and producers to shoot in Utah than in previous years,” says von der Esch.

Film director and HaleStorm Studios COO Kurt Hale, says the decision to create a new film studio has proven to be a win-win situation for all involved. “Though Stone Five Studios is the owner of the building and will house its corporate entities and employees in the building, the full-service studio will be available to any filmmaker’s use, giving movie producers, Halestorm and the state of Utah what we’ve been missing all these years.”

The new studio, which commenced groundbreaking on June 6, 2005, will be an estimated 42,000 square feet built on 3 acres of the Riverwoods area of Provo, Utah. The new building will also encompass HaleStom Entertainment, all of its subsidiaries and several other video/audio production companies. The expected completion date is November 2005.
