Shawna Baca's "3:52" Screens at Sony Picture Studios

LOS ANGELES, CA -- The premiere of "3:52," a 35mm short film written and directed by Shawna Baca premieres at Sony Picture Studios on Monday, October 17, 2005 at 7:30 pm. The film stars the young Latina actress, America Ferrera (Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, Lords of Dogtown, Real Women Have Curves) with unique guest appearances from the Native American community.

The film features cameos by the Navajo drum group "Bearspring," actor Billie Daydodge (Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman) and Allene Cottier, who sings the well-known Lakota song, “Ink Pa Ta” about a young girl running away from home. The story portrays the life of young Kate, an alcoholic in the grips of her addiction, as two Shaman fight for her soul in a parallel universe. It is the classic story of good versus evil and life versus death set in diametric backdrops; the City of Angels, and an unseen world of power and spirits. "Shawna (Baca) has great potential as a feature filmmaker," raves the Santa Monica Observer.

She previously directed the award-winning "Rose's Garden" starring Tippi Hedren, "...Bravo for this very sensitive film,"-Tippi Hedren (Best Actress for Rose's Garden- LA TV Short Film Festival). Ms. Baca is an active member of Ricardo Montalban's nonprofit organization Nosotros where she produced filmmaker showcases and directed the 1st Annual Nosotros American Latin Film Festival, and the Aviva Family Children Services where she produced the short, "Man, Where's My Shoe?" by at-risk youth women (winner of the Broader Vision Award at the 2005 Garden State Film Festival).

Questions and answers with director Shawna Baca and actress America Ferrera will follow the evening's show with special guest moderator to be announced and a tribute to Sony Films and sponsorship grantors; Color by Deluxe, Panavision and Modern VideoFilm (telecine). The premiere will take place at Sony Pictures Studios Backstage Theatre, 10202 W. Washington Boulevard in Culver City, California on October 17, 2005 at 7:30pm.
