BAFTA AWARD WINNER PETER BOWKER HEADLINES WRITERS ON WRITING PROGRAM, TUESDAY, JAN. 25 AT WGA HQ

WHAT: "Writers on Writing" monthly seminar series, produced by the Writers Guild Foundation, featuring a noteworthy motion picture television writer or writers each month, discussing the many aspects of the craft, and the writer's role in what is known as a notoriously difficult industry.

WHO: Peter Bowker, one of England's most prominent and distinguished screen and television writers. His ITV movie Buried Treasure won the BAFTA Lew Grade Award for Most Popular Drama in 2001, and his television film, Flesh and Blood won the Prix Europa and Royal Television Society awards for Best Writer and Best Single Drama in 2002. His BBC series Undercover Heart was nominated for a Best Drama BAFTA Award in 1998, and he has written extensively for many popular U.K. dramas such as Casualty, Clocking Off,
Peak Practice and Single. Bowker's modern adaptation of Chaucer's The Miller's Tale will air on BBC America this January, and his dark, comic drama Blackpool, will air later in 2005.

Aside from his career and his approach to craft, Peter talks about the nexus between US television drama and UK television drama, and their influences on each other.

Dorothy Stiven, former producer for BBC, and current Public Affairs Consultant for BBC AMERICA, will serve as moderator.
