ATLANTA, GA -- Black Family Channel invites viewers backstage to meet the most sought after Hollywood stars who are portrayed in the Oscar touted movie "Ray". This original Black Family Channel production, premiers Thursday, October 28 at 9:00 p.m. (ET) and will re-broadcast on Friday, October 29 at 8:00 pm (ET). Check your local cable guide for channel listings.

Black Family Channel brings the most electrifying cast center stage for one-on-one conversations about "Ray" The Movie. Jamie Foxx, the star of the film, takes viewers through the complexities and challenges that he faced during his preparation and transformation into the life and times of the world-renowned musical genius. Foxx's recreation is "potent, complete, focused, uncanny and almost eerie," said Director and Producer, Taylor Hackford. "It feels like Ray". The critic's circle is all a buzz about Foxx's brilliant performance. All eyes are on Foxx as one of the front- runners for an Academy Award nomination.

"Ray" The Movie was 15 years in the making capturing the essence of the man who changed American popular music by combining gospel and blues. Known as the "Innovator of Soul", Ray was one of the first black artists to crossover into American mainstream music with rock and roll, R&B, country and blues. Ray Charles was actively involved in the film's production, cast selection, and script before he passed away at the age of 73 earlier this year. "Ray" is the biggest black production since the "Color Purple", with a nearly all-black cast.

Other black Hollywood favorites interviewed in this half-hour special are Regina King who plays a sassy back-up singer and Ray's mistress; Kerry Washington, Charles' loyal and understanding wife has been called the most promising new star of 2004. An all-exclusive interview with Sharon Warren, who plays Ray Charles' mother, will give viewers insight to how this role impacted her life and career. Critics are amazed by Warrens remarkable yet powerful performance in her first major screen role. She is also being touted for an Oscar nomination.

The biopic delves into Ray's conflicts, failures, racial strife and philandering. During this special, the cast will talk to viewers about the importance of re-discovering Ray and bringing his life story to the big screen. The movie is certain to re-introduce an entire new generation of Americans to the legendary music of Ray Charles.
