South by Southwest (SXSW) Film To Host Special Dallas Panel With Sundance Winner
Austin, TX - May 22, 2004 - South by Southwest (SXSW) is happy to announce that it will host "A Conversation with Shane Carruth" on Saturday, June 5, at the Dallas Convention Center. The panel will be part of the Southwest Arts, Film, and Television (SWAFT) Conference and Expo
to be held June 4-6 in Dallas, Texas.
Partnering with HD EXPO, the SXSW Film team was invited to program a discussion with emerging filmmakers for the conference in Dallas. Carruth is the winner of the 2004 Sundance Film Festival Grand Jury Prize, for his feature film "Primer." The Dallas-based production was eventually picked up for distribution by ThinkFilm, and will be
released in theaters this Fall.
"When we were asked to combine the spirit of innovative new filmmakers and the city of Dallas, we knew Shane would be the ideal candidate," says SXSW Film Festival Producer Matt Dentler.
South by Southwest is scheduled to have a presence at all three days of the SWAFT Conference and Expo.
