| Synopsis |
|
Gretchen is a senior at an exclusive prep school. Possessor of a fantastic
GPA, she is a strong candidate for Harvard. When her college counselor
emphasizes in a lecture the importance of passion in an application, she
takes his words a bit too seriously, and a series of events leads to her
falling in love with a boy for the first time. In a frenzy of passion, she
gives up all academic involvement for this thoughtless boy, but when faced
with commitment, he abruptly abandons her. Heartbroken and devastated,
Gretchen uses her unfortunate experience to write a touching, intense
personal statement embellished with grossly exaggerated details which
makes up for her atrocious final scores and, through bitter tears, gets
her into college.
