| Cookies is a dark comedy that tells the story of Harry Carson, who wants
to start a new life by moving to Chicago. However, he cannot escape his
various emotional problems, and soon begins to feel extremely lonely and
insignificant. After Harry concludes that his psychiatrist is not helping
him, he begins to imagine that fortune cookies are telling him what to do
with his life. He soon becomes obsessed with the cookies, and cannot
function without their guidance. Throughout the story, Harry grows more
and more frustrated that no one ever remembers him, which only worsens his
mental state. Because of his social anxiety and low self esteem, he is
slow to notice the obvious interest of Shannon, the clerk in his favorite
video store, who may just be the perfect girl for him.
