Committed to the creation, development and support of new works for the stage, the MonkeyHawk Playwrights’ Competition presents an opportunity for American playwrights to earn recognition and production of their works, staged and performed by professional actors, in Hollywood, California in February, 2004. 
Notification Date:  January 15, 2004.
Eligibility: Full length, One Act and 10 minute plays. Submissions must be original, unpublished, un-produced plays. 
Rules:   
Plays of any genre are accepted for competition in three categories:
TEN MINUTE PLAYS ­ No longer than ten minutes. 
ONE ACTS ­ approximately 20 to 55 minutes.
FULL LENGTH PLAYS ­ Over 60 minutes.
  • This contest is open only to residents of the United States.
  • Submissions must be original, unpublished, un-produced plays. 
  • Plays that have had stage readings are okay to submit.
  • Legal clearances of materials not in public domain are the full responsibility of the playwright. 
  • Scripts must be the original work of the participant and must be copyrighted or registered with the Writers Guild of America. 
  • All submissions are judged blind.
  • We require two cover pages: one with title, your name, address & phone number; the other with title *only* along with the processing fee in the correct amount. (* There should be no identifying information on the script itself except the title.)
  • There is no limit to the number of scripts that may be submitted per playwright provided each entry is accompanied by the proper fee.
