Announcement of Winners 2002

We are pleased to announce the winners of the 2002 NHFX/New England
Screenplay Competition, sponsored by the law firm of Rath, Young &
Pignatelli, Concord, NH.


FINALISTS:


Sea Fever, by Richard Guimond, Tiverton, RI
Logline: Story of Cain and Abel recast in a Rhode Island fishing town.


Box Score, by Dana Biscotti Myskowski, Henniker, NH
Logline: Think of Charlie Sheen and Janeane Garofalo stuck together as a
minor league baseball announcing team, in an "opposites attract" love
story. 


The Gift Horse, by Ryan Paul Golembeske, Little Compton, RI 
Logline: A grieving young man is led on a mysterious cross-country chase
in search of a brother who disappeared from a high school party. 


The Promise of a New Day, by Al Kline, Warwick, MA
Logline: A tragic love story set within the persecution of Jews in
Vichy France. 


The General's Spy, by Mike Newman, Boston, MA 
Logline: During the Revolutionary War, a young American forsakes home,
his love and his own future in America to play a double spy for General
Washington. 



GRAND PRIZE WINNER: 


River Pirates, by Richard Guimond, Tiverton, RI 
Logline: A teenage boy, pirating shellfish to keep his family going,
must navigate rival water gangs and a murderous love triangle to emerge
as the captain of his own boat. 


The Grand Prize Winner received $500, awards, an in-depth session with
Craig Kellum at Hollywoodscript.com, and representation by Rath, Young &
Pignatelli (Concord, NH) regarding the script. 


The NHFX/New England Screenplay Competition is limited to unproduced
screenplay writers residing in New England or the Canadian Maritimes.
Its goal is to identify local writing talent and get it exposed to the
New York, Los Angeles and Independent Film markets.
